Terms of Use
Last updated: September 29, 2026
These terms govern your use of Emaús ("the app"), published by CloudArbitration LTDA ("we", "us"). By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. The app
Emaús is a Catholic prayer app: daily liturgy and reflection, Mass, Rosary, Examen, the Bible, guided journeys and an AI Chat. Most of the app is free and supported by ads. The Chat is offered through a paid subscription, with a small free sample.
2. Your account
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to create an account. You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your credentials safe. Tell us at info@getemaus.com if you believe someone else has accessed it. You can delete your account at any time in Profile › Delete account.
3. About the AI Chat
The Chat is generated by an artificial-intelligence model. Please keep in mind:
- It is not a priest, a saint or Jesus. It is a companion for prayer and study that talks about the faith. It does not replace the Church, the Sacraments, spiritual direction or your parish.
- It can be wrong. Answers may contain mistakes, including about doctrine or Scripture. The Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Magisterium are the reference; when in doubt, ask a priest.
- It is not professional advice. It is not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. If you are in crisis or in danger, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional right away.
- Confession is not possible in the app. The Sacrament of Reconciliation requires a priest in person.
4. Subscription
The "Emaús Chat" subscription is offered monthly and yearly. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may vary by country.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- You can manage or cancel the subscription in your iPhone's Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
The subscription includes a practical message limit designed to prevent abuse, not to restrict normal use. We may change the features included, with notice in the app.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the app for anything unlawful, or to harass or harm others;
- try to get around the subscription, message limits or security measures;
- copy, scrape or resell the app's content, or use the Chat to generate content at scale;
- reverse-engineer the app, except where the law allows it.
6. Content
The app, its design, and the texts we write (reflections, journeys, session scripts) belong to us or our licensors. Scripture translations, liturgical texts and prayers belong to their respective rights holders and are used with permission or under the applicable licenses. You may use the content for your personal prayer and share excerpts with attribution.
What you write in the app — notes, intentions, reflections — is yours. You give us only the permission needed to store and sync it for you.
7. Ads
The free version shows ads. We are not responsible for the products or services advertised.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep the app available, but it may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We may change, add or remove features. If we stop offering the app, we will give reasonable notice.
9. Termination
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The app is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties beyond those expressly stated here, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from the use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived under the law of your country.
11. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple's Standard End User License Agreement also applies; where it conflicts with these terms, these terms prevail to the extent permitted.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. If you are a consumer, you may also rely on the mandatory laws of your country of residence and bring claims in its courts.
13. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top and, for changes that matter, tell you in the app before they take effect. Your personal data is covered by our Privacy Policy.
